This 501 (c) 3 non profit organization has a goal to provide abused children living in group care facilities with musical instruments. There are 52 of these facilities in Southern California not counting children in foster care. The children living in group care usually have failed foster care at least 4 or 5 times. These are the children that need the most attention and guidance. The facilities are funded by the state and private donations.
The money doesn't go to art programs. That is where Gifts of Sound comes in. We want every child to have the access of instruments so they can find out if they have an aptitude for music. If they find they do, our next step is to help find them a private music teacher to see them once a week.
Our
first donation was from the Guitar Center in Hollywood. They were generous
enough to donate Guitars, bass, amps, cords, and headphones to our cause.
We gave them to Hillsides home for children in Pasadena. The teens there
have started an after school jam session and are now writing their own
songs and have formed a band.
If you would like to get involved or have a used instrument that is collecting dust in your closet, call us now! We will take it off your hands and put it into the hands of a child that needs it. If it needs repair, that is fine too. We have places that will fix donated instruments for free.
